The renovation of the Changbai Mountain Residency Project reimagines a two-story retail space into a versatile contemporary art venue by integrating the space and using modular furniture. The renovation involved adding façade windows and doors, completely removing interior walls, and creating a new vertical flow that minimizes barriers, with the exception of separating the public space on the first floor from the living quarters on the second. The well-lit workshop and communal kitchen areas feature flexible, movable furniture to accommodate various activities, while curtains can be drawn to partition off the inner areas for exhibitions or screenings.
