Responding to the theme “AI, as Seen at the End of Ownership,” and engaging with the historical and ongoing discussions around generative art and conceptual art, Small Production transforms the neutral white cube into a surreal, conceptual space by leveraging the unique material and structural characteristics of felt and metal grating.
The project adopts a 120-degree base grid logic to generate rooms, semi-shielded zones, and walls for hanging artworks, creating distinct environments for the 19 participating artists and collectives. These works span a wide range of media, including plotter drawings, generative art, AI systems, video, games, animation, and robotic installations. The interplay between these constructed spaces and the museum’s narrow layout results in a continuous exhibition corridor, offering both a spatial sequence and a legible structure for the show.At the same time, both felt and metal grating are suspended within the space, bringing a sense of lightness to the exhibition. While the felt blocks light and the grating allows it to pass through, their interplay with the gallery’s variously shaped windows introduces a rich and nuanced rhythm to the spatial experience. The project also incorporates considerations of sustainability and budget control.
